It may have been my homegirls, the Kardashians, or the OG JLo, or Nicki Minaj and her videos featuring her unreal behind. Regardless of who started it, there is no denying that the crazy big booty hype has swept over the world. Many women have been moving away from the 'stick-skinny', 'size 0','shapeless' figure, towards a 'toned', 'thick', 'bootylicious' body. This big butt = sexy trend can be witnessed on popular social media sites/apps alone, where it's evident that women are working their butts off, pun intended, to achieve a curvier body.
Throughout my research on fitness, I've always read that cardio will only result in a smaller version of yourself and that strength training and weight lifting should be your workout of choice if your fitness goal is to change the shape of your body. Being full Asian, I was not blessed with a curvaceous body, such as that of a Kardashian, hence the boob job that I'm saving up for (but that's another story). Despite this #asiangirlproblem, I was determined to work for the juicy bottom I wanted for myself. Using women who began with flat pancakes and squatted their way to the top, such as Iggy Azalea and Jen Selter, as inspiration, I slowly started doing various exercises for my glutes, butt, and quads.
Even though I am nowhere near my dream body, I definitely have slightly changed the shape of my body. However, through this butt-crazed fitness journey, I can definitely confess that I've been slacking in the cardio department. SO my goal for the next month is to get myself back into doing more cardiovascular, heart healthy exercises. These will not only help me with my overall health, but also help me slim down to my goal body. I figured I should lose the weight I want to lose before worrying about gaining muscle in the areas I'm concerned about.
I was double-tapping away on Instagram a few weeks ago, when I came across a fitness guru who had posted a photo of herself with her protein shake. The protein powder was called Protein World, a brand I have seen all over various social media sites, has a massive following, and was endorsed by many celebrities. Of course, these endorsements aren't fooling anybody - celebrities probably bring home a fat cheque for just holding up the product. But I started reading about their products and researched their ingredients to find out what their products are claiming to help achieve.
One product particularly caught my eye and it's their Slender Blend Capsules. Whether it be due to always being sleep deprived or my other issues I'll get into later, I've always had issues with lack of energy. This definitely influences my performance during workouts, especially on days I don't consume enough calories. These capsules contain natural ingredients such as guarana extract, green extract, as well as caffeine. What these little dietary capsule are claiming is to boost energy daily and during workouts (to help perform to one's best ability and burn more calories), while maintaining a healthy diet/calorie-deficient diet (in order to lose weight). With my knowledge in both nutrition and fitness, and with the help of the internet, I've concluded that these pills might be just what I need at the moment, especially with the amount of cardio I am planning to incorporate into my workout regime. The company is also very well known for their popular Slender Blend Protein Powder, which I was very tempted to also purchase but since I'm extremely satisfied with the brand I'm currently using, I resisted.
I am excited to see if the capsules will, in fact, give me the results they're promising. Stay tuned!
xo, Alice
